Digital Art Substitute for Prototype?

    I'd like to present my invention with a professional looking model. I was looking into product design and rapid prototyping, but I don't have the money to have such a prototype made for me. I was thinking of taking pictures of my homemade prototype, and have an artistic Photoshop expert modify the pictures. My homemade prototype is a fully functioning headset; however, I'd like to have something more presentable.

    Will pictures be an acceptable form to present my invention to parties that may provide financial or other important resources? If so, any recommendations on how I can find someone to modify my pictures?

    I'll also appreciate any alternatives for presenting my invention.

    I'm pretty much in the same situation as you are so my suggestions would likely not be a good basis for a successful outcome. But I have been checking around from inventors who've been through these phases in their quest for funding before and most of them have said that showing an actual working prototype should be good enough to start the process. You can videotape your invention and save the file to a DVD disk. Most digital cameras are capable of doing that and a decent one can now be had for less than a hundred bucks. With that in mind, why spend a couple hundred bucks (at least) for a Photoshop work when most investors, who are the most impatient of people, can only grasp something when it is presented to them in less than a minute. Since your device is technology related I would recommend that you check the following startup funding websites:

    Submit a business summary along with some photos and you should be on your way.
